Showtime Announces More Additions To The ‘Halo’ Series Cast

Ever since Showtime announced that a ‘Halo’ TV series was coming, they have wasted no time making big announcements. The first news dropped not too long ago when it was announced that Pablo Schreiber (American Gods) would star as the Master Chief himself. After an announcement at the TCA Summer tour, we know about who will be joining him. Along with some familiar names, there will also be three all new characters. Let’s take a look at them.

Natascha McElhone (Californication) will star as two characters — Dr. Catherine Halsey, the brilliant, conflicted and inscrutable creator of the Spartan supersoldiers and Cortana, the most advanced AI in human history, and potentially the key to the survival of the human race. Bokeem Woodbine (Fargo) will play Soren-066, a morally complex privateer at the fringes of human civilization whose fate will bring him into conflict with his former military masters and his old friend, the Master Chief. Shabana Azmi (Fire) will play Admiral Margaret Parangosky, the head of the Office of Naval Intelligence.

As for the new characters, Bentley Kalu (Avengers: Age of Ultron) will play Spartan Vannak-134, a cybernetically augmented supersoldier conscripted at childhood who serves as the defacto deputy to the Master Chief. Natasha Culzac (The Witcher) will star in the role of Spartan Riz-028 – a focused, professional and deadly, cybernetically enhanced killing machine. Kate Kennedy (Catastrophe) stars as Spartan Kai-125, an all-new courageous, curious and deadly Spartan supersoldier. Yerin Ha was previously announced playing the new character Kwan Ha, a shrewd, audacious 16-year-old from the Outer Colonies who meets Master Chief at a fateful time for them both.

Production on the series is set to begin later this year, with a target air date in the early part of 2021. Showtime is partnering with 343 Industries and Amblin Television.
