SDCC 2019: Dark Horse Announces New Comic Book Series By David Dastmalchian

David Dastmalchian seems like he has been a scene stealer his entire career.  We've seen him in The Dark Knight, both Ant-Man movies and countless other comic book related roles.  Now, we will be writing comics himself.

First announced by The Hollywood Reporter, Dastmalchian will team with Dark Horse Comics for Count Crowley: Reluctant Midnight Monster Hunter.  Joining the creative team will be Lukas Ketner and Lauren Affe.  According to THR, the story takes place in 1983 and centers on Jerri Bartman, a once-rising TV journalist who moves back to her home town in the midwest when her career hits a snag after struggles with alcoholism. She hosts the nightly Creature Feature, but soon learns her job comes with hidden duties: hunting monsters. Count Crowley, her missing predecessor, was one of the last of the appointed monster hunters in the world. Monsters are actually real, and are trying to control the world's news and information.

"Partnering with Dark Horse Comics has been one of the greatest experiences of my career. Since my childhood passion for comics and the Creature Feature in Kansas City, I have dreamt of conjuring the world of Count Crowley," said Dastmalchian in a statement released with the announcement. The timing of the release couldn't be more perfect, with the first issue dropping on October 23, 2019. Want a trailer, too? You got it!

David Dastmalchian is currently filming the star-studded Dune reboot, and will be playing Polka-Dot Man in James Gunn's Suicide Squad movie.
