Saban Films Acquires Rights To “Jay And Silent Bob Reboot”

What better way to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the first appearance of Jay and Silent Bob than with news of their return?  The rumors are true, because Saban Films has acquired the North American rights to the upcoming reboot project.  Jason Mewes and Kevin Smith will, of course, return in the title roles.  Honestly, could you image anyone else playing these characters?

Legion M, who will be one of the companies financing the film, released a video today of Jason and Kevin talking about the return of their fan favorite characters.  Watch it here:

The new movie will indeed serve as a sequel to the 2001 release, Jay And Silent Bob Strike Back. Deadline reports that Universal Pictures Home Entertainment Content Group acquired all foreign rights.  Hideout Pictures and Mickey Gooch Jr’s Skitbags Entertainment join Legion M in financing the film.  Production has already started and, as you can imagine, Kevin Smith is working on the script.  I'm sure the movie will not hold back when it comes to making fun of all of the recent reboots that we have seen in Hollywood on both the big and small screen.  The report also suggests that we will see some other familiar characters from the original, but no names have been released just yet.  There is also no theatrical release date that has been announced.

How excited are you for the return of Jay and Silent Bob?
