R.L. Stein Story Get Greenlit For Disney+ Series

It looks like the relationship between Boom! Studios and Disney is very much alive and well. One of the graphic novels written by the legendary R.L. Stein is being adapted to series for Disney+. Here are the details.

Just Beyond, which also comes from the art team of Kelly and Nichole Matthews, will get eight episodes in it’s first season. The series will be written and produced by Seth Grahame-Smith (Pride And Prejudice And Zombies) from 20th Century Fox Television. David Katzenberg will also produce through KatzSmith along with Stephen Christy and Ross Richie.

“I grew up watching Twilight Zone reruns and the original Amazing Stories with my parents,” said Seth Grahame-Smith in a statement released by Boom! Studios. “I’ve always wanted to make a genre anthology series that families could enjoy together, and do it in a way that delivered for kids and adults alike. R.L. Stine has been a part of millions of childhoods, and Disney+ has already proven itself as a place that knows how to make high-quality shows for the whole family. I couldn’t be more excited to be working with both of them.”

There are four volumes in the Just Beyond graphic novel series, and there is no word as to which (or if) one of those stories will be adapted for this series. The writer’s room is being assembled, and a target release date has been announced for the Fall of 2021. That seems quite ambitious given the current state of the world, but I absolutely love their optimism.

More on this as it develops.
