The upcoming Ghostbusters revival not only has a new name, but a new member of the cast as well. Variety first broke the news that Ant-Man himself, Paul Rudd, would be joining the cast. In a video posted by Sony Pictures UK, Rudd shared his excitement by saying, “I almost slimed myself.” I can’t think of a more perfect casting for this franchise.
Rudd will reportedly play a teacher in the upcoming movie by Jason Reitman. Reports go on to say that Carrie Coon (Avengers: Infinity War) is also in talks to join the cast, and would play a single mother of a son played by Finn Wolfhard (Stranger Things). Mckenna Grace (Gifted) is another name we will likely see. There is no word on how this connects to the original Ghostbusters franchise or how any of the original cast members might be involved.
What we do know is that the movie will be out in the summer of 2020. Since the new title is Ghostbusters 2020, I’m guessing they will be sure to have it out on time. Filming is expected to begin soon.
