We’ve known for a while that the G.I. Joe franchise would be getting a fresh start. Well Paramount has just shown how big of a deal it is and how serious they are taking it. Paramount Pictures, MGM and Skydance held a big event at the Hie-Jinja Shrine in Japan.
In attendance were members of the cast and crew including Henry Golding, Andrew Koji, Haruka Abe, Iko Uwais, Takehiro Hira, Director Robert Schwentke, Executive Producers Jeff Waxman and Erik Howsam, and Stunt Coordinator Kenji Tanigaki. They even received a traditional blessing at Hie-Jinja Shrine ahead of beginning shooting in Tokyo.
What’s interesting is that, Snake Eyes is officially being branded (at least in part) as G.I. Joe Origins. This if further confirmation that this will be a total reboot of the franchise. We know that we will see other characters from the franchise in this movie, but it will be interesting to see if more of these Origins movies are coming.
Snake Eyes will be in theaters October 23, 2020.
