We’re watching Superman and Lois as they try to raise teenagers on The CW. How about a series where we watch them fall in love from the start? Warner Bros. Animation has announced a new series coming to both HBO Max and Cartoon Network.
My Adventures with Superman follows a 20-something Clark Kent and Lois Lane just as Clark is building his secret identity. As a matter of fact, here is the official synopsis: “In this serialized coming-of-age story, we follow Clark as he builds his secret Superman identity and embraces his role as the hero of Metropolis – and perhaps the world. Lois, now growing into a star investigative journalist, takes aspiring photographer Jimmy Olsen under her wing. All the while, Clark and Lois are falling in love, sharing adventures, taking down bad guys, stumbling over secrets, and discovering what it means to be Superman and Lois Lane.”
Unlike the Batman series that was also announced today, we know who will provided the voices for the power couple. Jack Quaid (The Boys) will play Clark Kent/Superman and Alice Lee (Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist) will play Lois Lane. Sam Register (President of Warner Bros. Animation and Cartoon Network Studios) serves as executive producer. Jake Wyatt (Invader Zim: Enter the Florpus) and Brendan Clogher (Voltron: Legendary Defender) join as co-executive producers and Josie Campbell (She-Ra and the Princesses of Power) as co-producer.
Superman has remained one of the most iconic and beloved Super Heroes in the world,” said Amy Friedman, Head of Kids & Family Programming, Warner Bros, who announced the series today. “This fresh take from the Warner Bros. Animation team delivers a modern, relatable Clark Kent alongside a fearless, whip smart Lois Lane who are navigating the small tasks of both becoming adults and trying to save the world.”
As you can see, this looks like a really fun animation style and seems like it will be a nice, lighthearted Superman story. I feel like that is something we could definitely use right now. No word on a premiere date, but I’ll keep you posted.
