When you think about any Batman animated series, Bruce Timm’s name probably comes to mind. He’s one of visionaries that brought Batman: The Animated Series to life so many years ago. Several decades later, he will get a chance to reimagine the characters all over again with a superstar team attached.
Warner Bros. Animation has announced Batman: Caped Crusader will be coming to HBO Max and Cartoon Network. Executive producers JJ Abrams from Bad Robot and Matt Reeves from 6th & Idaho will work with Timm on the new series. Sam Register, President of Warner Bros. Animation and Cartoon Network Studios, is also attached. So, as you can see, this is going to be a very big deal. Just imagine what this team will be able to do with state of the art animation and technology. It’s almost like working right in the Bat Cave.
“Batman: The Animated Series was a masterpiece that shaped the perception of the character for an entire generation of fans. It is in that spirit that we are bringing together three master storytellers in J.J., Matt and Bruce – each with their own intuitive understanding and affection for the character – to create a new series that will continue in the same groundbreaking legacy,” said Register.
Timm, Abrams and Reeves also released a joint statement saying, “We are beyond excited to be working together to bring this character back, to tell engrossing new stories in Gotham City. The series will be thrilling, cinematic and evocative of Batman’s noir roots, while diving deeper into the psychology of these iconic characters. We cannot wait to share this new world.”
