Netflix Cancels ‘The OA’ After Two Seasons

Netflix continues it’s run of dropping the axe on short running series. This time it was ‘The OA’, which will bow out after two seasons, according to Variety. Netflix’s vice president of original content Cindy Holland said of the cancellation, “We are incredibly proud of the 16 mesmerizing chapters of ‘The OA,’ and are grateful to Brit and Zal for sharing their audacious vision and for realizing it through their incredible artistry.”

In case you were unfamiliar with the show, it starred and was co-created by Brit Marling. She played Prarie Johnson, a blind woman who returns after being missing for seven years with her sight restored. She now calls herself as The OA, or Original Angel, and recruits a small team to help rescue other people who have disappeared by opening a portal to another dimension. The show, also created by Zal Batmanglij, ran for 16 episodes.
