I can't think of a game that frustrated me more in my youth than Mega Man. I mean that as a compliment, as the game presented many challenges and made me determined to push forward. There have been some new games, and even a couple of adaptations over the years. Now, one of those adaptations is getting a revival in the world of comics.
Mega Man: Fully Charged was an animated series that ran for a couple of seasons on Cartoon Network, actually concluding in May of 2019. A year later, Boom! Studios has announced that they will bring the story back for a limited, five issue comic book series. Original series writers A.J. Marchisello and Marcus Rinehart will also write this story, along with artist Stefano Simeone (Read Only Memories). Man of Action Entertainment will also be involved.
As far as this story goes, here is the synopsis: "After Mega Man’s father Dr. Light is kidnapped, a shocking truth rocks Mega Man’s world as it seems the Robot Masters know more about his secret history than he does. But as Dr. Wily’s machinations trigger Mega Man’s forgotten memories of the brutal human/robot war, our hero is left to question just who he is and if he can trust anything or anyone – including the man he calls father."
No doubt, if you watched the series, you'll recognize some of the characters. If not, I'm sure this will serve as a great introduction. I'm sure fans that go back to the early Capcom days will give this a look as well.
Right now, we know that Issue 1 drops in August of 2020. Keep looking for our review and any other previews.
