Ever since the Ms. Marvel live action series was announced, fans have been speculating and making their choices as to who should be cast in the title role. I’m going to go out on a limb and say that nobody tossed this name out there, but there’s a reason for that. This will be her first major role, and it’s a big one.
According to Deadline, Iman Vellani will play Kamala Khan in the upcoming Disney+ series. The young actress landed the role after what is being described as a very long search. The report also says that Vellani will appear as Ms. Marvel on the big screen. Her first appearance may actually be before the solo series premieres. So could that be in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier? Maybe WandaVision? Only time will tell.
This wouldn’t be the first time that Marvel Studios has cast a relative unknown in a big role. They’ve been right so many times, you almost have to trust them until proven otherwise. Ms. Marvel is expected to debut in 2021, but that is also pending any pandemic related schedule changes. Marvel has yet to make an official announcement regarding the casting.
