‘Jupiter’s Legacy’ Release Date Revealed By Netflix

Remember when Netflix acquired the rights to the Millarworld catalogue? It seems like that was ages ago, and other than a few new comic book series, we have yet to see any stories come to the screen. We knew that Jupiter’s Legacy would be the first, and now we also know when. Take a look at the first teaser.

I know, it isn’t much more than a title treatment, but what it does give us is a release date. All eight episodes of the series will arrive Friday, May 7th on Netflix. Serving as executive producers are the creators of the original comic, Mark Millar and Frank Quitely. Also on board are Lorenzo Di Bonaventura, Dan McDermott, Steven S. DeKnight, James Middleton, and Sang Kyu Kim. More info on the cast can be found here.

Not familiar with the story? Jupiter’s Legacy isn’t just about superheroes. “After nearly a century of keeping mankind safe, the world’s first generation of superheroes must look to their children to continue the legacy. But tensions rise as the young superheroes, hungry to prove their worth, struggle to live up to their parents’ legendary public reputations — and exacting personal standards.”

The series joins a growing genre exploring the imperfection of superheroes. It will inevitably be compared to those that have come before it, but the larger focus on family will likely set it apart. Make sure you set a reminder for May 7th, and watch the series at www.netflix.com/jupiterslegacy.
