When news dropped that Kevin Feige would basically be taking control of all things creative at Marvel, that didn't exactly create a lot of job security for others. The first named that popped into my head at the time was Marvel TV Executive, Jeph Loeb. Turn out, that was a reasonable suspicion.
THR has reported that Loeb will indeed exit Marvel TV some time in November. The report also suggests that this exit was in the works even before Feige took over, but we will probably never know for sure. Marvel has, of course, declined to comment. They likely will not until this is made official.
It was nearly a decade for Jeph Loeb at Marvel TV and, quite frankly, he left quite a mark. What started with Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. quickly gave us Agent Carter. Loeb was also one of the minds behind the highly successful Marvel/Netflix series like Daredevil, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones and others. I could keep the list going, but if you're reading this, you probably already know what live action series that Marvel has produced in the last decade. Sure there were some bumps in the road, but given the restrictions that he was working under, Loeb did a very good job with Marvel TV.
I'll have my full thoughts on this story coming up in Episode 288 of our podcast this week. Keep your eyes open for that. For now, check out our interview with Jeph Loeb from WonderCon 2019, talking about Marvel's Cloak & Dagger.
