Jack Black Returns For A New ‘Kung Fu Panda’ Series

Did you know that today was National Panda Day? It also feels like a great day to grab you black belt and your favorite snack. A brand new Kung Fu Panda series is coming to Netflix from DreamWorks Animation, and you’ll hear a very familiar voice.

Jack Black returns as the voice of Po after first bringing the character to life on the big screen. Kung Fu Panda: The Dragon Knight also marks the return of executive producer Peter Hastings, who was at the helm on Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness for 78 episodes. He’s joined by executive producer Shaunt Nigoghossian and
co-executive producers Chris Amick and Ben Mekler. No word on a showrunner just yet.

Here’s the early synopsis for the series: “When a mysterious pair of weasels set their sights on a collection of four powerful weapons, Po must leave his home to embark on a globe-trotting quest for redemption and justice that finds him partnered up with a no-nonsense English knight named Wandering Blade. Together, these two mismatched warriors set out on an epic adventure to find the magical weapons first and save the world from destruction — and they may even learn a thing or two from each other along the way.”

More cast members should be announced soon, but we may have to wait longer for a release date. Keep checking back for updates. You can go to http://www.netflix.com/kungfupandathedragonknight to save the show to your list.
