We haven’t seen Tank Girl on the big screen since Lori Petty brought the character to life in 1995. Almost 25 years later, we might be getting another shot. Newsarama was the first that I saw to catch this tweet from Tank Girl co-creator Alan Martin:
Just heard that Margot Robbie’s company have optioned rights from MGM to make a new Tank Girl movie – now several months into development. We haven’t been contacted by any of the parties involved with the project, so not sure if there will be any input from the original creators. pic.twitter.com/7RxbV4qLFt

Does this mean that Robbie’s LuckyChap Entertainment is bringing us a reboot of the fan favorite franchise? It certainly seems that way, but there has yet to be any confirmation from MGM or Robbie herself. She could certainly handle it, since LuckyChap worked on the upcoming Birds of Prey movie.
Would you want to see a Tank Girl reboot? Titan Comics is still the publishing home for Tank Girl comics.
UPDATE: Collider reports that Miles Joris-Peyrafitte has been tapped to direct the upcoming reboot. It should be no surprise that Robbie would also play the title role, but only if the script (which is not finished) meets her approval.
