It's been a while since we have heard anything about the upcoming Indiana Jones sequel from Lucasfilm and Walt Disney Pictures. The only news we really have is that Harrison Ford would be reprising his role and that James Mangold will direct. Today that changed with a big name added to the cast. We have learned that Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Fleabag) will be joining the cast.
"I'm thrilled to be starting a new adventure, collaborating with a dream team of all-time great filmmakers," said Mangold in a statement released by Lucasfilm. "Steven, Harrison, Kathy, Frank, and John are all artistic heroes of mine. When you add Phoebe, a dazzling actor, brilliant creative voice and the chemistry she will undoubtedly bring to our set, I can't help but feel as lucky as Indiana Jones himself."
There was another noteworthy addition to the film, and that is John Williams. The famed composer will return to score this latest film in the franchise. Other than having Ford back, I think this is the one other name that fans were really hoping to see. Kathleen Kennedy, Steven Spielberg, Frank Marshall and Simon Emanuel will serve as producers.
The yet to be titled Indiana Jones sequel swings into theaters on July 29, 2022. We'll have more details as they become available.
