You might remember a couple of month ago when we told you about an upcoming prequel novel for The Hunger Games. At NYCC, Scholastic offered an update on the project, including a release date. We now know that the title will be The Ballad of Songbirds And Snakes. Here is what they shares on Twitter:

Scholastic President Ellie Berger had this to say in a press release, saying the new story “raises important questions about authority, the use of violence, and the truth of human nature.”
That definitely sums up the theme of The Hunger Games pretty well. You have to be optimistic that this new Suzanne Collins tale will be in line with what we already know about Panem. Remember, we are talking about 64 years before the events of the first novel. Prequels can be tricky, but there is so much of the story that still needs to be told. I’m very curious to see what we get.
The Ballad of Songbirds And Snakes will come out May 19, 2020.
