‘Gotham Knights’ Series Finds Their Bluebird & Cullen

When news first broke about a Gotham Knights series that would focus on Bat Family members, there were a few names that I was hoping for. Harper Row was near the top of that list. Her tech savvy nature and street smarts seemed perfect for a series on The CW. It looks like I’ll get my wish, and her brother is coming along too.

Variety reports that Fallon Smythe will play Harper Row and Tyler DiChiara will play her brother Cullen. In the comics, Harper is very protective of Cullen. One reason for that is their abusive parents. He is also pretty much the only person she really trusts. The way their story plays out in the pages of various Batman comics is pretty great, and I don’t want to say much more to avoid potential spoilers. I can tell you that Harper is bisexual and Cullen is transgender. I’ll be interested to see where this story picks up, and how far along the Row family is in their own story. It matters for quite a few reasons, so hopefully this is made clear early.

Gotham Knights comes from the Batwoman writing team of Natalie Abrams, James Stoteraux and Chad Fiveash. Stoteraux and Fiveash will also serve as executive producers, along with the usual suspects from Berlanti Productions: Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, and David Madden. Danny Cannon is on deck to direct the pilot. Keep in mind, the show still only has a pilot order, as of now.

This is the first casting announcement for Gotham Knights. Expect many more in the coming weeks.
