Out with the old and in with the new? Ghostbusters: Afterlife seems to say, why not both? The latest trailer seems to tease the return that so many fans have been asking for. See for yourself:
I’ll have more thoughts on Episode 378 of the podcast, but it’s clear that director Jason Reitman and the writers had one very difficult task in mind. How do you honor the past, but make way for the future? Having dad around to share his original vision surely helped. The Spangler family connection seems like another smart decision. At the same time, I wouldn’t expect the original cast to play major roles in this decades later sequel.
I know fans do this now more than ever, but it’s hard to judge a movie based on a couple of trailers. Sure, it seems like they’re trying to do all of the right things, but that could also backfire. I started with one old saying and I’ll end with another. You can’t please all of the people, all of the time.
Ghostbusters: Afterlife premieres November 11th from Sony Pictures. Look for my review around that time on a future podcast.
