‘Ghost Rider’ TV Series Not Moving Forward At Hulu

It looks like Judgement Day will have to wait. Deadline reports that the planned Ghost Rider series will not be moving forward on Hulu. Gabriel Luna was set to reprise his role as Robbie Reyes/Ghost Rider for the solo series with showrunner Stephen Lightfoot.

The dreaded “creative differences” strikes again, leading to the decision not to move forward. Interestingly enough, the Marvel’s Helstrom series, that was also ordered around the same time, is still on track for a 2020 premiere. The four animated series Marvel’s M.O.D.O.K, Marvel’s Hit-Monkey, Marvel’s Tigra & Dazzler Show and Marvel’s Howard The Duck are still happening, as well.

It will be interesting to see if Ghost Rider will be shopped to other networks or end up on Disney+. The show was not going to be a true Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D spinoff, so a move to ABC seems unlikely. I will have more on this coming up on Episode 284 of the podcast this week.

UPDATED: Gabriel Luna posted his response to the cancellation on Instagram.

To everyone who loves Robbie and Ghost Rider, THANK YOU. I’ve had the time of my life playing those two guys and I was ready to rock on the new show. The news was surprising, but I’ve always known that the nature of this business is that until you’re there, on the day, doing the thing it could still go away. Even then, that next day on the job ain’t guaranteed. Thanks to Loeb, @marvel, @felipesmithart and everyone who helped bring Robbie to life on the page and the screen. 🔥💀🔥 I’m focused now on our promotions for @terminator. We’ll be bringing Terminator:Dark Fate to theatres in just over a month! Hope to see everyone there when it opens on The Day of The Dead, Nov. 1st! 🤖💀🤖
