‘Free Guy’ Presses Start On A New Trailer

Ever have a background character go rogue in a game before? Well it might not be a glitch, it could be a fight for survival. Your typical “additional voices” rise up with Ryan Reynolds in a new trailer for Free Guy.

It’s been a while since there has been any Free Guy news, so here’s a reminder of what it’s about: “a bank teller who discovers he is actually a background player in an open-world video game, decides to become the hero of his own story…one he rewrites himself. Now in a world where there are no limits, he is determined to be the guy who saves his world his way…before it is too late.”

Starring along with Reynolds are Jodie Comer, Lil Rel Howery, Joe Keery, Utkarsh Ambudkar and Taika Waititi. You’ll also see cameos from some of the biggest streamer in gaming like Imane “Pokimane” Anys, Lannan “LazarBeam” Eacott, Seán William “Jacksepticeye” McLoughlin, Tyler “Ninja” Blevins and Daniel “DanTDM” Middleton. Shawn Levy directs the screenplay from Matt Lieberman (who crafted the story) and Zak Penn. Levy and Reynolds also serve as producers alongside Sarah Schechter, Greg Berlanti and Adam Kolbrenner with executive producers Mary McLaglen, Josh McLaglen, George Dewey, Dan Levine and Michael Riley McGrath.

Free Guy has been waiting to press play for a while. It’s actually one of the last movies left from before the Disney/Fox deal, which seems like forever ago. It’s kind of ironic having a video game movie delayed so much. It’s very true to life of the gaming industry. That wait will end when Free Guy hits theaters on August 13th.
