One of the most consistent forms of storytelling in all of comic book fandom is from DC and Warner Bros. Animation. From their stellar collection of movies, to top notch animated series, they have had some amazing stories from a vast array of characters. One of the best things that happened recently was the return of the DC Showcase animated shorts. Now we have learned that those shorts will continue for the foreseeable future.
Four new stories will be spread out with different releases in 2021 and 2022. Kamandi: The Last Boy On Earth! will be first up, paired up as a bonus feature with the Justice Society: World War II release this Spring. Matt Peters will direct the script written by Paul Giacoppo. That will be followed, in no particular order, by The Losers, Blue Beetle and Constantine. All four will be produced by Rick Morales.
Warner Bros. also has some top notch voice actors attached to these shorts. You’ll hear Malcolm McDowell, James Garner (in his final performance), Jerry O’Connell, Linda Hamilton, Karl Urban, Gary Cole, Alyssa Milano, Bruce Greenwood, Thomas Jane, Michael Rooker, Eliza Dushku, Neal McDonough, Ariel Winter, Danica McKeller, George Newbern, Michelle Trachtenberg, Charlie Weber, Arnold Vosloo, Leonard Nam, Jamie Chung, Peter Serafinowicz and Michael Rosenbaum. Noticeably absent from the list is Matt Ryan, who has spent quite a few years as John Constantine in both live action and animation. That doesn’t mean that he won’t voice the character, but it’s still interesting. Constantine will also be the longest of the shorts, leading to a larger compilation at some point.
