Do you ever get mad at yourself for missing something on Netflix? "Season two!? I never saw Season one!" That literally happened to me today, and I am absolutely going to fix that. Netflix has announced that Fate: The Winx Saga has been renewed for a second season. A show about a magical boarding school? That is always something that I am up for!
Here's how Netflix made the announcement:
For those of you who are already fans of the show, there is good news. The cast will return with Abigail Cowen as Bloom, Hannah van der Westhuysen as Stella, Precious Mustapha as Aisha, Eliot Salt as Terra and Elisha Applebaum as Musa. Brian Young (The Vampire Diaries) will also return as showrunner. Judy Counihan and Kris Thykier from Archery Pictures (Riviera, The State) plus Joanne Lee and Cristiana Buzzelli from Rainbow will also return as executive producers. More casting announcements are expected, but the show will not return to production until later this year in Ireland. Finally, this season will be eight episodes, expanded from the six episode first season.
In a statement provided by Netflix, Young said, "The six episodes in season one only scratched the surface of this incredibly rich world and the powerful fairies who inhabit it. As Bloom's story continues to evolve, I can't wait for you to learn even more about Aisha, Stella, Terra, and Musa! And you never know who might show up at Alfea next term…"
If you're not familiar with the show, Fate: The Winx Saga, "follows the coming-of-age journey of five fairies attending Alfea, a magical boarding school in the Otherworld where they must learn to master their powers while navigating love, rivalries, and the monsters that threaten their very existence. From creator Brian Young (THE VAMPIRE DIARIES), FATE: THE WINX SAGA is a live-action reimagining of the Italian cartoon series WINX CLUB by Iginio Straffi."
