‘Fallout’ Series Lands At Amazon

For a game that has been in existence since 1997, I’m surprised that it took long for this to happen. Variety is reporting that a series based on the popular Fallout games is coming to Amazon Prime Video. You might be even more excited when you find out who is involved.

Westworld series creators Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy will produce under their Kilter Films banner. The report also says that, in the agreement, there will be a straight to series order of Amazon approves the scripts. To me, it feels like a full season is almost a sure thing if that’s the case. Bethesda Softworks and Bethesda Game Studios will also be part of the production.

I said that in was surprised that it has taken this long for a Fallout series to happen, but apparently, this has been in the works for a while.

“Over the last decade, we looked at many ways to bring Fallout to the screen,” said Todd Howard of Bethesda Game Studios. “But it was clear from the moment I first spoke with Jonah and Lisa a few years ago, that they and the team at Kilter were the ones to do it right. We’re enormous fans of their work and couldn’t be more excited to work with them and Amazon Studios.”

Fallout is one of the greatest game series of all time. Each chapter of this insanely imaginative story has cost us countless hours we could have spent with family and friends. So we’re incredibly excited to partner with Todd Howard and the rest of the brilliant lunatics at Bethesda to bring this massive, subversive, and darkly funny universe to life with Amazon Studios,” said Joy and Nolan in a joint statement to Variety.

Given the sheer volume of content to choose from, it’s anyone’s guess how this first season will start out. I’m sure it will explode onto the scene one way or another. More on this as it develops.
