Early ‘Green Lantern’ Series Details Emerge

When the slate of original programming was first announced for HBO Max, Green Lantern was one of the first. There were virtually no details at the time, but the picture has become a bit more clear. The Hollywood Reporter first broke the news that reveals which Lanterns we will see, who will write the series and more.

Let’s start with the most exiting part: the characters. The Lanterns will be mostly Earth based with Guy Gardner, Jessica Cruz, Simon Baz, and Alan Scott all set to appear. Kilowag will be one of the exceptions, along with Sinestro. That means no Hal Jordan, no John Stewart and no Kyle Raynor. Does that mean those will be our eventual big screen Lanterns? Only time will tell.

The series will have ten hour-long episodes. Seth Grahame-Smith will be the showrunner, and also co-write the premiere episode with Marc Guggenheim. Warner Bros. TV and Berlanti Productions will have some very familiar Arrowverse names as executive producers including Greg Berlanti, Geoff Johns, Sarah Schechter and David Madden. This could provide a clue on what to expect, tone wise, from the series.

Obviously, there were no casting announcements made. There was also no word on when production would start. Adding to the intrigue is the fact that we don’t know if this will connect to the Arrowverse or the DCEU movies. When there are any updates on HBO Max’s Green Lantern, we’ll pass them along.
