I realized as I sat down to write this that it’s been a while since a Pixar movie got a wide theatrical release. The pandemic sent both Soul and Luca straight to digital and streaming respectively. Now that things are getting closer to normal, that might change. Disney and Pixar are standing by with their next fun adventure. Here’s the teaser for Turning Red.
Try to contain your excitement, because who knows what you could turn into. That’s the problem that Mei Lee faces. The story follows: “Mei Lee (voiced by newcomer Rosalie Chiang), a 13-year-old who suddenly “poofs” into a giant red panda when she gets too excited (which is practically ALWAYS). Sandra Oh (“The Chair,” “Killing Eve”) voices Mei Lee’s protective, if not slightly overbearing mother, Ming, who is never far from her daughter—an unfortunate reality for the teenager.”
Turning Red is directed by Academy Award winner Domee Shi. Lindsey Collins will produce. The press release was not clear as to exactly where we’ll be able to see Turning Red, but we do know that the film will release March 11, 2022. Check back for updates.
