So many TV shows have been saved in recent years, that it stings a little bit more than it used to when things don't work out. Unfortunately, for Deadly Class fans, this one is going to hurt. Confirmation came yesterday that the show could not find a new home on a new network or steaming service, thus ending it's run after only one season. The confirmation came via Twitter from series co-creator Rick Remender:
Deadly Class will not be moving to a new network. Which is sort of perfect when you think about it. If you want to see what happens after the 1st season you'll have to buy the comics, which are pretty keen. Thank you to our fans for the huge support. You helped soothe the sting.

Remender is quick to point out that there is a bright side to all of this. You can still turn to the comics to find out what happens from here on out. The Season 1 cliffhanger does play out a big differently in the comics, but doesn't deviate enough to the point that you wouldn't be able to keep going. Really, you could just start at the beginning and how things were told from that perspective from the start. It wouldn't take you too long to catch up either. Issue 39 of the ongoing series actually comes out this week. So maybe instead of #SaveDeadlyClass it should be #ReadDeadlyClass now.
Deadly Class was received well by critics and fans alike, but that wasn't enough to keep Syfy from deciding to cancel it. Sony Pictures Television was clearly going all out to draw attention to the show, which was obvious by bringing the show to WonderCon this year despite not yet being renewed for a second season. Looking back, I guess that was a good way to say goodbye to the show. Deadly Class pushed the envelope each and ever week, testing the boundaries of what could usually be shown on broadcast television. It was not sensationalism for the sake of getting attention. This story was raw, it was real and jumped right off of the page into it's only season. It will be very interesting to see where the cast goes from here.
What other Rick Remender stories would you like to see hit the screen, big or small?
