‘DC’s Stargirl’ Season 2 Trailer Teases Trouble Ahead

The first season of DC's Stargirl was a coming of age story in more ways than one.  Not only did you have these teenagers growing to be heroes, but also learning how to be a team and come together when it mattered the most.  The pressure was huge, but the young JSA was up to the task.  You'd think that would mean that the future looked as bring at the Cosmic Staff.  After seeing the first full trailer for Season 2, that might not be the case.

The biggest issue seems to be the clash of ideals.  While the rest of the team feels like the threats are over, it's Courtney who thinks that there is still work to be done and evil to be conquered.  Granted, we know that she's not wrong, but you can see where the team is coming from.  Courtney is the only real "chosen one", the others were recruited and adopted their roles.  You could argue that Rick and his family ties make his claim to Hourman stronger, and that's true, but he always seemed more driven by revenge than anything else.  It looks like Courtney will have to pull this team together again.

Then we have the debut of Jade, daughter of Green Lantern Alan Scott.  Clearly she and Courtney are off to a rocky start.  It's hard to say why just from this quick look, but hopefully she can grow to be a strong ally to the JSA.  Something tells me she won't be up for taking a backseat to anyone, so we could also see a power struggle within the team.

We also get to see a tease of what new threats are ahead for the second season.  We know for sure that they'll be tangling with Eclipso and The Shade.  You can also expect Cindy to go full Shiv this season, with Eclipso as a strong ally.  Don't count out Sportsmaster and Tigress either, since they are only imprisoned and not dead.  The real question here is if The Shade will reclaim the ISA or if he will simply try to be just one more villain trying to take down the JSA.  You'd think strength in numbers, but there are plenty of egos at play here.

All of this and I haven't even mentioned these kids trying to be actual teenagers and focusing on their normal lives.  So, as you can see, there are layers upon layers to this upcoming season.  We're less than two months away, as Season 2 of DC's Stargirl premieres Tuesday, August 10th exclusively on The CW.
