If you ask fans what show they would love to bring back, Batman: The Animated Series will be brought up a lot. This might not be EXACTLY what they we hoping for, but it’s pretty great. EW reports that DC Comics will release Batman: The Adventures Continue, a comic book series based on the animated series.
This digital first series will be written by Paul Dini and Alan Burnett, which will definitely be good news for fans hoping for a proper adaptation. They will be joined with art by Ty Templeton, colors by Monica Kubina and featuring a cover by Dave Johnson and a variant cover by Dan Mora. The stories will begin digitally in April, with print copies hitting local comic book shops May 6, 2020.
So what will the first issue be about. Here’s the synopsis from DC: “In the first issue of Batman: The Adventures Continue, collecting two digital-first chapters, Wayne Enterprises in Gotham City is attacked by a giant robot that steals an entire room from the laboratory. Who’s controlling the robot? How will Batman stop the mechanized menace? And what does it all have to do with Lex Luthor’s sudden appearance in Gotham?”
Do you need to know anything before diving in? Paul Dini says, “Fans familiar with the Batman of The New Batman/Superman Adventures will be right up to speed. Alan and I approached the writing with the idea that we were doing the season you might have seen if we had not put the series aside to do Batman Beyond.”
