One thing comic book fans have always been able to agree on is this, DC has some incredible villains. Not only that, but the publisher continues to bring new and amazing villains (like The Batman Who Laughs) into the mix. So it's no surprise that DC would dub this, "The Year of the Villain". In doing so, fans will have a chance to grab a special issue just before Free Comic Book Day this year.
DC's Year of the Villain will be available on May 1st, just days before Free Comic Book Day. The best news? The 32 page issue will only be 25 cents. The book will feature stories from some of DC's biggest villains and all star creative teams. Writers Scott Snyder (JUSTICE LEAGUE, THE BATMAN WHO LAUGHS), James Tynion IV (JUSTICE LEAGUE DARK, THE BATMAN WHO LAUGHS: THE GRIM KNIGHT) and Brian Michael Bendis (SUPERMAN, ACTION COMICS) will be joined by Eisner Award-winning illustrator Alex Maleev (Jinxworld’s SCARLET), Jim Cheung (JUSTICE LEAGUE) and Francis Manapul (THE FLASH, AQUAMAN/JUSTICE LEAGUE: DROWNED EARTH). Greg Capullo (BATMAN, DARK NIGHTS: METAL) will provide the main cover, with variants from the aforementioned artists. You can see Jim Cheung's variant cover at the top of this story.
Fans may want to be caught up on The Batman Who Laughs mini-series, as well as Justice League and Action Comics to fully enjoy this special issue. There will also be a hint to an upcoming Batman arc! DC already has big plans for Free Comic Book Day itself, which you can read more about here.
