DC Comics Announces Plans For Batman Day 2018

Once again The World's Greatest Detective will have the spotlight for a day!  DC Entertainment has announced that September 15th will mark the 5th annual Batman Day celebration.  Local comic book shops, book retailers and even libraries across the country will be celebrating with all sorts of Batman themed events and sales on some key titles.  There will be plenty of stuff for all ages, especially when it comes to the comics themselves.

The first chapter of Batman: White Knight from Sean Gordon Murphy will be available at local comic book shops ahead of the release of the collected trade.  It will also feature a preview of the upcoming DC Black Label title from Brian Azzarello and Lee Bermejo, Batman: Damned.  For the kids, a free copy of Batman: A Lot of Lil Gotham will be available as well.  If you prefer digital, online retailers will actually get a jump on the celebration, with sales starting on September 11th. An online activity kit is already available, if you just can't wait to celebrate or need time to prepare.

In a press release, DC also announced that they are already looking towards Batman's big birthday next year. Following Batman Day, DC will commemorate the 80th anniversary of the Dark Knight with a year-long celebration in 2019. On March 30, 1939, artist Bob Kane with writer Bill Finger gave life to Batman in DETECTIVE COMICS #27. In 2019, DC will celebrate the publishing milestone of the comic book series’ monumental 1000th issue as well as Batman’s 80th anniversary. More details on the year-long celebration will be released in the coming months.
