He might have put a ring on and left us, but it turns out, David Ramsey won’t be gone for long. Deadline reports that Ramsey will be returning to the Arrowverse in multiple roles. You might remember that Diggle moved to Metropolis, so what does that mean now?
It looks like Ramsey will direct episodes of both Superman & Lois and Supergirl this upcoming season. In addition to that, we will see the return of John Diggle in episodes of those series, along with The Flash, Batwoman and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow. The Legends role is listed as top secret, leading to speculation that we will finally get to see Diggle as a Green Lantern. In my opinion, this also feels like it could be part of some sort of upcoming crossover.
“I remain in awe of the imprint these shows have had on television and I’ve been blessed for the better part of a decade to be a part of them both in front of and behind the camera,” said Ramsey in a statement released with the Deadline exclusive. “To say I’m excited beyond belief to return to the Berlantiverse would be an understatement. I can’t wait to continue telling these stories.”
Also note that Ramsey chose to use the term, “Berlantiverse”, which was coined by Stephen Amell not too long ago. Clearly the whole CWverse thing is not catching on (which I am more than happy about.) It will always be the Arrowverse to me, but whatever you call it, this won’t be Ramsey’s first time directing. He was first in the chair for an episode of Arrow in 2018.
So let the questions and speculation begin regarding Ramsey’s return. I’ll have more thoughts on this story coming up on Episode 345 of the podcast this week.
