Colton Haynes Exits ‘Arrow’, Season 8 Appearance In Doubt

After having a big role in last year’s flash forward story on ‘Arrow’, we might be left with a bit of a cliffhanger in Roy’s story. At the TCA Summer event, Green Arrow TV reports that Haynes has exited the series prior to the final season. Unlike Emily Bett Rickards, it doesn’t appear that this was his decision.

The good news is, it seems like the door is still open for Roy to appear before the season ends. Even showrunner Beth Schwartz told Green Arrow TV that, “we hope to have him back.” We do see the passing of the torch moment in last season’s finale to the younger heroes, so this isn’t completely shocking. At the same time, there is a bit of an incomplete feeling when it comes to Roy’s story.

Speaking of those young heroes, Katherine McNamara (Mia), Ben Lewis (William), Joseph David-Jones (Connor) and Charlie Barnett (JJ Diggle) are all series regulars for Season 8. That also doesn’t mean that we will see them in every episode, as witnessed by Haynes’ series regular status last season. This also doesn’t necessarily mean goodbye, as I wouldn’t be surprised to see Arsenal show up in ‘Batwoman’ or even ‘Legends of Tomorrow’ at some point. That is the beauty of the Arrowverse!

More on this as it develops.
