Boom! Studios To Release ‘Wynd’ Months Early (UPDATED: Trailer Released)

UPDATE (5/23/20:  Boom! Studios has released a trailer for WYND!  See it below, then read the original story.

May 20th is the date that has been circled on the calendar of comic book fans and shop owners ever since Diamond announced it's return to distribution. Many publishers are doing what they can to help, and Boom! Studios has taken yet another step in doing that. It was announced today that their highly anticipated new story, Wynd, will be released five months early.

This new story comes from writer James Tynion IV (Batman), artist Michael Dialynas (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles) and letterer Aditya Bidikar (Isola). It was originally scheduled as a graphic novel release for November. Now, it will be released as single issues, with the first coming on June 17, 2020. Each issue will be 40 pages, which gives you even more for your money. Boom is calling this their Must Read initiative, and a one time only break from regular solicitation scheduling.

"The biggest retailers in the biz have been asking for hits," BOOM! CEO and Founder Ross Richie said. "‘We need hits, hits, hits, load up the big hits for comic shops, Ross, we need excitement as stores reopen,’ they said. So we’re listening to our partners and providing them what they’re asking for. This is literally the familiar Stan Lee saying, ‘Because you demanded it!'"

According to Boom, Wynd is a story about, "a world where magical heritage is punishable by death, so a young boy named Wynd must keep his true identity – and pointy ears – a secret from everyone in Pipetown, even if it means he’ll never have the normal life he wants. But when his secret is threatened, Wynd is forced to leave his home behind to embark on a dangerous quest that will put him at the heart of a royal conspiracy beyond his imagination.

Now on the run with the boy of his dreams, his best friend Oakley, and a literal prince, Wynd will have to embrace the magic within himself if he wants to save them from the shocking dangers that await!"
