Not too many film franchises make it to 25 films. Well, not with one character in a respectable way anyway. The intrigue and fandom of 007 has spanned generations and continues to wow fans almost 60 years later. In an event today in Jamaica, not only did they honor Dr. No, but they also revealed a number of details for the upcoming Bond 25 milestone movie.
As if there were any doubt at this point, Daniel Craig was confirmed to return as 007. The biggest announcement of them all had to be that Rami Malek would be playing the villain in the upcoming movie. I’m very excited for that, and always thought he would play a great creepy villain. Also joining the cast are Dali Benssalah, Lashana Lynch (who you’ll remember from Captain Marvel), David Dencik, Ana De Armas, Billy Magnussen, Felix Leiter, Léa Seydoux, Naomie Harris, Ben Wishaw, Rory Kinnear and Ralph Fiennes. Some of these are returning cast members, and others are joining the franchise for the first time.
There will be four main locations for the movie: Jamaica, Norway, London and Italy. Cary Joji Fukunaga will direct. Bond 25 will also be written by Neal Purvis, Robert Wade, Scott Z. Burns and Phoebe Waller-Bridge. The only think that was noticeably absent from these announcements was the movie’s title. For fans, this can be just as important as who’s in the movie, maybe even more important. I guess you have to save something for the trailer reveal, whenever that happens. It is interesting to note that there was a lot of talk about Dr. No and Golden Eye. I’m not saying we’ll be getting Dr. Eye or The Golden No, but story wise this could play a role in where their heads are at.
The yet to be titled Bond 25 has officially begun production, and will be in theaters April 8, 2020.
