As if the excitement of a Batman/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie wasn't enough, DC and Nickelodeon are giving us more. The two will once again partner up, along with IDW Publishing, for a third volume of the comic book crossover. The team of James Tynion IV and Freddie Williams II will also be back, joined by colorist Jeremy Colwell. The six issue arc will serve as a conclusion a story that I never could have imagined we would ever see.
Tynion IV released a statement via DC saying, “I still remember the e-mail asking me if I wanted to write the first Batman/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles crossover,” said series writer James Tynion IV. “My brain couldn’t even process what I was reading for a few seconds, and I started having a panic attack about fitting it into my work schedule. Then, finally, I pictured Michelangelo’s reaction to seeing the T. rex in the Batcave for the first time and started laughing out loud.” Co-Creator of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Kevin Eastman also joined in saying, “Batman/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles has easily been one of my biggest personal geek-out moments ever, and from what I’ve seen of series III, my advice to fans is to buckle up, things are about to get seriously crazy! Forever grateful that James and Freddie invited me into their backyard to play for a bit.” That's right, Kevin will be supplying variant covers for the final arc!
We do know that Krang will be the main villain of this final arc. Apparently he gets his hands on some very important tech from the DC Universe. If I had to guess, could it be a Mother Box!? That would make sense, and it would also make for a great story. What a way to celebrate 80 years of Batman and 35 years of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles!
The fun all starts when the first issue drops on May 1, 2019.
