Some familiar faces are about to board a new Star Trek series on CBS All Access. Anson Mount is set to return as Captain Pike, along with Rebecca Romijn as Number One and Ethan Peck as Spock in Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. This will technically be a spinoff of the characters that we saw in Season 2 of Star Trek: Discovery.
Akiva Goldsman comes over from Star Trek: Picard to write the series premiere. Goldmans will also executive produce along with Alex Kurtzman and Jenny Lumet who also helped craft the story. Henry Alonso Myers, Heather Kadin, Rod Roddenberry and Trevor Roth. Aaron Baiers, Akela Cooper and Davy Perez will also serve as co-executive producers. Don’t worry, Goldsman isn’t leaving the Picard creative team, according to CBS.
It’ll be nice to see a new story aboard the U.S.S. Enterprise, and Pike has always seemed a bit under-vauled to me. No release date has been given, and with the current state of filming due to the pandemic, I don’t think we’ll have one any time soon. More on this as it develops.
