Andy Serkis To Direct ‘Venom’ Sequel

Andy Serkis is a man of many talents, both in front of and behind the camera.  Did you know what included the director's chair, as well?  Now he has signed on to take control of the symbiote.  The Hollywood Reporter broke the news that Serkis will direct 'Venom 2'.

That picture you see is of Serkis directing his take on a Rudyard Kipling classic in Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle for Netflix.  Along with directing, he was also the voice of Baloo.  This might only be his third time directing, but this might just be one of those perfect fits.  Serkis is an accomplished actor, but he is also one of the kings of motion capture.  This could be just the thing that could help Tom Hardy take his Venom to the next level.  Not only that, but if Carnage will indeed be the villain in this upcoming sequel, you are going to want someone like Serkis to help bring that to life.  The script has already been written by Kelly Marcel, and there is no word on whether or not Serkis would have a hand in that as well.

Sony might not have commented on the report, but Serkis didn't waste any time confirming it himself on social media:

The first 'Venom' movie was a nice surprise, and proof that Sony might have something with these Spider-Man spinoff movies after all.  Andy Serkis is also a trusted name that most fans know, even if it's not for his directing. Here's a guy that has been a part of some major movies like 'Lord of the Rings', 'Black Panther' and the list goes on and on.  This is a guy that knows how important movies like this are to the fans, and will go all out to make sure that vision gets delivered.  I'm excited to see what he can do when he gets his hands on a 'Venom' movie that seems to be right in his wheelhouse.

What do you think about Serkis directing 'Venom 2'?
