An ‘Arrow’ Spinoff Is Happening & It Starts Sooner Than You Think

If you want to make sure it’s safe, always send a Canary in first. Sure it’s a dated reference, but the the Canaries will live on after Arrow takes it’s final bow. Deadline reports that a spinoff, centered around the characters of Mia, Black Canary and Black Siren has been ordered by The CW. Katherine McNamara would return to her role as Mia, with Katie Cassidy and Juliana Harkavy returning as Black Siren and Black Canary.

There will be an episode in this eighth and final season of Arrow that will serve as a backdoor pilot for the new series. You would think that means the show would start the following season. It will be written by Beth Schwartz, Marc Guggenheim, Jill Blankenship and Oscar Balderrama. It wasn’t really confirmed when this series would take place.

Think about it, you could assume that this takes place after the events of last season’s flash forward episodes. Then again, with Crisis On Infinite Earths who knows what will happen with the timeline. Could Mia end up in present day Star City somehow? Could we see William as a part of this story as well? Was this the spinoff teased at the TCA presentation this year?

Regardless of the what or when, I am very excited for this new series. I had a feeling that Warner Bros. TV had bigger plans for Katherine McNamara and Mia Smoak! More on this story as it develops.
